Ubeeqo Project:

A few years ago, I was a Product Owner for Ubeeqo, a car sharing app in Barcelona, Madrid and other cities in Europe.

I remember user activation being a problem at this time. That’s why I wanted to take a look at the onboarding experience of Ubeeqo and try to figure out what could we do to increase user account creation.

Goal:

Increase user conversion (e.g get people to book)

Summary:

During the assessment, a few problems popped up. Among them are badly timed authorization request, wrong reciprocity and brand inconsistencies. To see the whole material and prototype, check out the Behance project.

Let’s dive into it!

Loading Screens

Before

The first screen is a loading screen. This is a common practice. I’ve decided to have a little fun with it though and play with the carsharing concept. (see the animation on behance)

Right before the login, a pop up ask you to allow tracking.

If the user haven’t even started to use the app, it might be a bit frustrating to already talk about advertising.

After

Loading times are an opportunity to have fun and either prime user or entertain. Here is the reason for this small loading animation

The pop up above is surely to allow tracking for CRM and marketing.

As a result, I’ve removed the pop up, and would only send it after the first booking, to make sure we convert user first.

To prime user to our app’s value, the flow created is a bit different: there’s no need to log in to see the map.
